Desk Report: US unicorn Iterable, an AI-powered multichannel marketing platform, is setting up in Portugal and aims to hire more than 100 people in Lisbon over the next few years.
“Iterable and Lisbon share a path of rapid and exciting growth. We are thrilled to add Lisbon to our expanding global network of offices, which already includes San Francisco, Denver, New York, London, and Sydney. As we continue to expand and introduce Iterable to more brands around the world, Lisbon has proven to be the perfect place to put down roots, foster our expansion and drive innovation.
“The city’s vibrant tech ecosystem, talent pool and strategic position in Europe are perfectly aligned with our vision for global growth and innovation. We are excited to be part of Lisbon’s promising tech community,” said Andrew Boni, CEO and co-founder of Iterable, quoted in ECO.
The North American unicorn is starting in Lisbon with a team of eight people, including vice president of engineering, Peter Oh, who has moved to lead the project, but has the “goal of hiring more than 100 people in the coming years in Lisbon”. A country manager for Portugal will be announced soon, they said.
Brands such as Redfin, Priceline, Calm and Box use the North American tech company’s platform, which uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to optimise customer communication and data processing, enabling personalised and dynamic multichannel communication experiences.
Earlier this year, Iterable surpassed $200 million in annual recurring revenue, working with more than 1,200 brands in 50 countries and employing approximately 700 people worldwide, according to company data.
With this expansion, Lisbon is now home to 13 unicorns and more than 60 technology hubs, which have announced 14,000 jobs in just two years.
