District Correspondent: Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain said that the corporation wants to ensure a fair holding tax system without imposing any additional tax on Sunday (23 February).
He called upon the city residents to pay holding tax regularly to help transform Chattogram into a green and clean city while inaugurating 'Tax Fair 2025' as chief guest on the ground floor of Premier University at city’s WASA intersection.
Mentioning that adequate financial support is not being provided for the maintenance of the city's infrastructure, Dr. Shahadat said "We are trying to increase tax collection in various ways to make CCC financially self-sufficient.”
He said CCC has already written a letter to the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) for paying tax.
“The roads are being severely damaged by the 70 to 80 ton vehicles which transport goods to and from the CPA. However, adequate financial support is not being received for the maintenance of the city's infrastructure,” he added.
CCC Chief Executive Officer Sheikh Muhammad Touhidul Islam presided over the function while Chief Revenue Officer Sarwar Kamal, Chief Cleaning Officer Commander Ikhtiar Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, Revenue Officer Md. Sabbir Rahman Sunny and other officials of the Revenue Department were present on the occasion.
