Shahidul Islam, Staff Correspondent: BCA Awards 2025: “Celebrating a Legacy. Shaping the Future.” Milestone Anniversary Recognises 65 Years of Passion, Progress, and Purpose London, UK, 5th August 2025 The Bangladesh Caterers Association (BCA) proudly announces the launch of the 2025 BCA Awards, marking a historic 65th anniversary of championing Britain’s curry industry. Under the fitting theme “Celebrating a Legacy. Shaping the Future,” this year’s event honours BCA’s six and a half decades of passion, progress, and purpose.

The BCA Awards 2025 ceremony will be held on Sunday 9th November 2025 at Park Plaza, Westminster Bridge Hotel, London,SE1 7UT, welcoming leading restaurateurs, dignitaries, policymakers, and media to celebrate the outstanding contributions of the UK’s Bangladeshi curry sector. Now in its 18th year, the prestigious awards continue to recognise excellence while paying tribute to the rich heritage of one of Britain’s most beloved culinary cultures.

A Legacy of Leadership
Since its founding in 1960, the BCA has grown to represent over 12,000 Bangladeshi-owned restaurants and takeaways across the UK. More than a trade association, the BCA has long been a cultural bridge, entrepreneurial platform, and guardian of authentic curry traditions. From pioneering restaurateurs who introduced curry to British high streets, to today’s dynamic chefs who reimagine classic dishes for modern tastes, the BCA has helped shape the identity of British cuisine.

Shaping Tomorrow’s Industry
Building on the success of its Young Curry Chef awards, introduced last year, BCA continues to invest in emerging talent, promote diversity in kitchens, and create opportunities for the next generation of chefs — including female chefs — to shine.

Oli Khan MBE, BCA President, said,“Reaching 65 years is an extraordinary achievement that reflects the determination, creativity and resilience of our community. Our restaurants and takeaways are cultural ambassadors that have helped define modern British cuisine. While we celebrate this legacy, we’re equally committed toshaping the future with fresh talent and bold ideas.”

Mitu Chowdhury, Secretary-General, added,“This milestone is a time to honour the trailblazers who laid the foundation and the innovatorsleading us forward. The BCA Awards are a tribute to both our past and our future.”

Tipu Rahman, Chief Treasurer, said,“For 65 years, our members have been vital contributors to the UK economy, creating jobs, supporting communities, and enriching British culture. The BCA Awards celebrate culinary excellence and the entrepreneurial spirit behind our industry's long-standing success.”

Looking Forward with Purpose
As BCA enters this landmark year, it remains dedicated to representing the interests of its members—advocating on critical issues such as rising operational costs, immigration reform, and skills development within the industry. The organisation also continues to play a key role in promoting multiculturalism, innovation, and sustainability in Britain’s ever-evolving culinary scene.

This 65th anniversary is not just a celebration of the past—it is a call to action for the future: to support established businesses, empower new talent, preserve tradition, and embrace the innovation that keeps Britain’s curry industry thriving.
