New Zealand considers granting long-term visa for Vietnamese

Desk Report: New Zealand considers granting long-term visa for Vietnamese

With the visa relaxation commitment, Gerry highly appreciated the Vietnamese community's great contributions to his country as well as the relationship between the two countries.

He agreed to increase people-to-people exchanges and cultural cooperation, contributing to strengthening the friendship and cohesion between the two peoples.

The Vietnamese community in New Zealand has about 11,000 people, mainly living in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington.

A New Zealand visitor visa allows one to stay for up to either six months (multiple entry) or nine months (single entry).

Vietnam has yet to waive visas for citizens from New Zealand, who need to apply for a visa for three-month stay with multiple entries.

PM Chinh and his wife are on an official visit to New Zealand, at the invitation of Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, from March 10 to 11.
